Meet Our Flight Instructors

Our instructors come from all over northeast and north central Ohio and bring a wealth of experience to Skypark. They’ve guided students from local towns as well as international students in achieving their flying goals.

With expertise ranging from private pilot training to instrument and commercial ratings, our instructors ensure that pilots of all ages and skill levels receive the guidance they need to succeed.

Our instructors combine extensive experience with a passion for teaching, guiding students safely and confidently through every stage of flight training.

JR Lopez

JR Lopez

CFI

JR Lopez is Skypark's in-house Certified Flight Instructor with a foundation in Alaska bush flying and a deep commitment to precision, safety, and adventure. His aviation career is focused on agricultural flying and aerial firefighting, with a long-term goal of piloting the Fire Boss amphibious air tanker. Known for his calm and methodical teaching style, JR brings real-world experience into the cockpit—helping students build the confidence, discipline, and skill needed to fly safely and effectively in any environment, from remote backcountry strips to busy controlled airspace.

Cooper Hurin

Cooper Hurin

CFI

Cooper Hurin is a Certified Flight Instructor who studied aeronautics at Kent State University and is a participant in the United Aviate program. He is dedicated to creating safe, enjoyable flight experiences every time he steps into the cockpit. With a passion for aviation and a clear vision for the future, Cooper’s long-term goals include becoming a 777 Captain and owning a personal aircraft for leisure and adventure.

Yeonwoo Kim

Yeonwoo Kim

CFI, CFII

Yeonwoo Kim is a Certified Flight Instructor with experience serving two years in the Republic of Korea Air Force. He has accumulated diverse flight experience in the Philippines and various other regions, broadening his global aviation perspective. Yeonwoo earned his degree in Aeronautics from Kent State University and holds an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher certificate, demonstrating his strong expertise across multiple areas of aviation. With a firm commitment to following regulations and maintaining structured, safety-focused instruction, Yeonwoo is dedicated to training pilots who contribute to the advancement of aviation safety. Guided by his motto, “A good pilot is always learning,” he strives to inspire and motivate his students to pursue excellence both in and out of the cockpit.

Skypark Instructor Rates

Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)$40.00/hour
Instrument Certified Flight Instructor (CFII)$45.00/hour

Instructor Fees

Instructor fees will be paid by students to the instructor on a separate contract basis. This fee is solely between the student and the instructor.

This fee will be paid at the end of each lesson. Do not pre-pay.

Cancellation of student lessons for reasons other than weather MUST be made 24 hours in advance.
